Job summaryAn exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced nurse/therapist with a real passion for respiratory management to join the Respiratory Service at Ipswich Hospital.You will provide expert care for patients with complex respiratory needs in clinic and the acute ward setting.The role supports suitable patients who have type 2 respiratory failure in the setup of non-invasive ventilation in their own home, review of their progress and provides advice, support and trouble shooting.You will be involved in the management of TB, both in prevention management through vaccinations for eligible groups.There is a strong focus on education within the job to both patients and colleagues and there is ongoing involvement in clinical audit and a passion within the respiratory team to continually review and improve the service.This role does involve weekend workingInterviews will take place w/c 1st July 2024Main duties of the jobReview patients with respiratory problems on the medical wards.In consultation with the respiratory consultants and ward coordinators 'pull patients' through to ARCU, Shotley and Saxmundham wards where appropriate.Ensure that patients have good inhaler technique and that Asthma and COPD pre-discharge checklists are completed. Liaise with primary care and the community services to ensure patients have access to Early Supported Discharge/Virtual WardAssess patients, in collaboration with the medical team for suitability for home oxygen as required. Liaise with the provider of community oxygen and community respiratory team.Assess patients with type 2 respiratory disease for home non-invasive ventilation (NIV).To provide education & training for patients, families, and carers who use NIV for trouble shooting, problem solving and advice on machines and equipment including mask fitting.About usWe are ESNEFT and we provide hospital and community health services to almost one million people across east Suffolk and north Essex.
