Job summaryWe are excited to be hiring a new Senior Occupational Therapist to join our fantastic Transition team. The team are vibrant, hard working and passionate in their roles of supporting and enabling young adults to thrive through their transition into adulthood.Main duties of the jobYou will be visiting young people in their own homes, in supported living accommodation, care homes and in educational establishments, including colleges and universities. You will carry out assessments and give advice regarding complex moving and handling, the provision of specialist equipment and property design and adaptation. Some have wanted to move out their family home and be more independent in a supported living setting. Others are pursuing tertiary qualifications and have needed support with setting up their university accommodation. The team are based in Woking (Quadrant Court) and Reigate (Woodhatch Place). We endorse Surreys agile way of working and aim to have a minimum of 2 days a week in the office for full time staff and 1 day a week for part time. Please be aware that it is our intention to leave Quadrant Court and move within the local area to Victoria Gate in Central Woking later this year. Our interventions and support are focused on supporting young adults aged 18-25 to achieve their aspirations, goals and improve their quality of life. You will be visiting young people in their own homes, in supported living accommodation, care homes and in educational establishments, including colleges and universities. You will carry out assessments and give advice regarding complex moving and handling, the provision of specialist equipment and property design and adaptation. You will provide advice and support to both young adults, their family carers and independent support providers - often enabling them to move on to a more independent lifestyle. We invest in Surrey's "grow your own" apprenticeship scheme and consistently have students and apprentices. You will have an opportunity to supervise trainee's and engage in reflective supervision. We have specialist mandatory training with agreed funding to support your developing clinical knowledge, alongside in house regular CPD sessions and leadership development. Shortlisting Criteria To be considered for shortlisting for this position, your application will clearly evidence the following:Professional qualification in Occupational Therapy and current registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).Substantial experience of working within a social care, health or community focused multidisciplinary setting including provision of professional supervision.Ability to complete person centred and proportionate OT assessments with Transition age population.Experience completing moving and handling risk assessments and plans.Knowledge of current legislation, including the Care Act and the Mental Capacity Act, and their application to practice in a social care setting.The job advert closes at 23:59 on 30th June 2024 and interviews will take place in the week commencing 15th July 2024.
