Job summaryAn opportunity has arisen for a Band 6 Senior Staff Nurse vacancy within the Emergency Unitat the University Hospital of Wales, Cardiff.We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic Registered Sick Children's Nurse (RSCN) to come and join our busy Paediatric Emergency Unit team within the Emergency and Acute Medicine Directorate. The Paediatric Emergency Unit at the University Hospital of Wales has over 35,000 paediatric attendances per year. In September 2020 the University Hospital of Wales became the first Major Trauma Centre in Wales and the main receiving centre of Paediatric Trauma. This exciting opportunity allows for further education and development of those wishing to work in in a Major Trauma setting.The Paediatric Emergency Unit is a challenging but rewarding environment with opportunities to develop and extend the knowledge and skills required to care for paediatric patients with a wide range of surgical, medical and trauma conditions.Main duties of the jobApplications are welcomed from qualified Level 1 Registered Nurses who have significant experience within Emergency Medicine and can demonstrate substantial knowledge within this field.The post holder will be identified as a clinical expert within Emergency Nursing and will be expected to manage the flow within specific areas of the Emergency Unit, providing effective leadership and management of the nursing team in an environment which is complex and pressurised.You will require excellent communication and clinical skills, significant evidence of CPD and show passion and enthusiasm for working in Emergency Medicine.This is a wonderful career opportunity to further enhance clinical skills relating to emergency medicine and major trauma.
