As a result of continued expansion and restructure of our service including in relation to the current Deprivation of Liberty Team we are pleased to offer a permanent and fixed term social work post within Adult Social Care. We are looking for highly motivated, qualified social worker/BIA to become a part of a service which is committed to working with customers and carers in a person centred way, using a strengths based approach. Applications are invited from both experienced and newly qualified social workers, who are motivated and committed to the role and proud of the social work profession. andnbsp; You will join the existing MCA andamp; DoLS Team within Sunderland City Council conducting Best Interests Assessments in relation to Mental Capacity Act Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards. The primary duties being to undertake Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards assessments under the Mental Capacity Act taking into account case law, the views of all relevant parties, and make recommendations relating to Standard Authorisations and associated conditions. It is essential that you are qualified as a Best Interests Assessor. While you will be based within the new Sunderland City Hall and will be travelling to Managing Authorities in various locations to undertake assessments as required, Sunderland City Council operates agile working. A training programme is afforded to all staff alongside regular supervision and the opportunity for career progression through the Departments Performance Review and Development Scheme. The successful candidate will have- andbull; Excellent communication and social care assessment skills, plus a solid understanding of the relevant statutory frameworks including the Mental Capacity Act and The Care Act. andbull; Ability to evidence and demonstrate best practice. andbull; Ability to work as an individual and within a busy social work team andbull; Ability to meet targets and deadlines, including Data Quality. andbull; The desire and motivation to work closely with care providers, health partners and other professionals. andbull; Social Work qualification and be registered with SW England. andbull; The ability to work a flexible work pattern if required to meet changing demands.
