Job summaryDue to maternity leave an exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Acute Stroke Service at Ipswich Hospital. The secondment/fixed term is full time, for 12 months, commencing 24th June 2024.Band 6 developmental role would be considered.You would work alongside the Clinical Specialist, and Specialist OT with the rest of the team, providing acute assessment and treatment in line with the Royal College of Physicians 2023 guidelines SSNAP Key Indicators, which includes early mobilisation and intensity targets.Our stroke unit has 4 HASU beds and 24 ASU beds, and there is a strong MDT working ethos with daily board rounds to ensure timely assessments, inputs and discharge planning.Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy work in an integrated manner, closely alongside the rest of the MDT. We also support the MDT stroke follow up clinic every week, for recent discharged patients. Groups run every day and we regularly have the support of the Rehabilitation Assistants to help deliver opportunity to practice during the in-patient care.Sound clinical skills, good organisation and ability to work over weekends are all advantageous. Full support and team-work makes this a suitable opportunity for someone looking to upskill into the Band 7 role, continue their Band 6 experience or to return to the field of stroke care after working elsewhere.Main duties of the jobTo be responsible for providing highly specialist assessment and treatment for patients with stroke who may have complex acute or chronic presentations.To ensure appropriate pathways of care and communications via liaison and referral to other agencies as required.To co-ordinate a team of physiotherapy staff and assist in the implementation of the services' Clinical Governance action plan.To lead by example and working collaboratively with MDT plan, co-ordinate, deliver and evaluate the Physiotherapy service provided to stroke patients.About usWe are ESNEFT and we provide hospital and community health services to almost one million people across east Suffolk and north Essex.
