Job summaryThe post will be contracted for 10 Programmed Activities per week which will include a Non-Resident on-call commitment for which an additional supplement of 3% will be paid. This post is to ideally commence 3rd August 2024, this is a substantive Post.The successful candidate must possess basic medical degree eg MBBS or equivalent, FRCS/MRCS (ENT) or equivalent. Full GMC Registration with a Licence to Practice, Adult Life support and have completed 4 years full-time post graduate training (or pro-rata if undertaken on a flexible/part time basis of which 2 years or more must be in a speciality training or fixed term programme in Ear, Nose & Throat. Care of in-patients: The appointee, with help from junior doctors will be responsible for the day-to-day care of admitted patients.2. Out-patient clinics: The appointee will help consultants in the running of out-patient clinics including emergency clinics. He/she will also be expected to run independent clinics as the need arises.Theatre sessions: The appointee will assist consultants in carrying out operations andprocedures in the theatre. He/she will also be required to run independent lists as the need arises.4. Teaching: The appointee is expected to participate in the teaching of juniors and medical students as well as allied professionals.5. Administrative duties: The appointee will be required to perform administrative duties with respect to patient care and the supervision of juniors as well as other roles which may be assigned from time to time.6. To liaise with medical staff in other specialities and participate in the regular clinical meeting and other postgraduate activities of the hospitalAbout usGeneral InformationThe Walsall ENT department covers a population of approximately 280,000 providing multi-disciplinary services for Ear, Nose and Throat (ENT) which is part of the Division of Surgery. The department is progressive and has up to date facilities in the DTC outpatient and inpatient departments.Four ENT outpatient rooms are fully equipped with IT, custom-built units, microscopes in each room, audio-video and modern chip tip scopes available. There are additional ENT treatment rooms in clinic. ENT is supported by a modern custom built Audiology department. Specialist clinics include Vertigo, Rhinology, Voice / Swallowing, Head and Neck.ENT theatres are located in the DTC block with access to audio-video, nerve monitoring, modern otology and rhinology equipment.Theatre sessions consist of a mix of inpatient and day case procedures.The Trust has a dedicated adult elective inpatient ward (24 bedded area) and a separate surgical day case unit, situated within the DTC block, which is shared with all surgical specialties within the Division.The ENT Paediatric outpatients are seen in the dedicated Paediatric department, which is situated within the Women's and Children's services area of the Trust. There are two ENT clinic rooms that are also fully equipped.
