Advert ENTERPRISE AND SUSTAINABLE REGENERATION Enterprise and Economic Growth Strategic Projects Officer 35 hours per week Permanent £34,732 - £38,017 / £19.03 - £20.83 per hour (including Distant Islands Allowance) We are looking for a Project Officer to support progression of the Council's Strategic Projects. This is a truly exciting opportunity to play a key role in delivery of transformational renewable energy projects under development by the Council, including but not limited to Orkney’s Community Wind Farm Project, Kirkwall Private Wire Network, the Innovate UK funded Net Zero Living Pathfinder Places project, as well as other projects. Your primary focus will be in delivering the Council's vision for its current portfolio of projects. These projects are at a critical stage, and you will be responsible for assisting the Project Manager in taking and shaping them from an advanced stage of development, through to final investment decision, construction and operation. This will involve interaction with numerous stakeholders, effectively co-ordinating activity of the project team and wider Council team in respect of project deliverables. You will be experienced in project management and have good knowledge of the renewable energy industry. It is considered beneficial if you also have experience of managing contractors and consultants, and in working on collaborative projects with third party funding. The role is technical, and you will be undertaking a technical, project management, and at times public facing role. As such we expect you to be diligent, informed and technically astute, but also to be motivated and passionate about this place and about working hard to deliver benefit to local communities. You should hold a qualification at SCQF 8/9 i.e.SVQ4, HND, General Degree, Higher Apprenticeship or Technical Apprenticeship in a relevant subject area OR have a minimum of 5 years' previous relevant experience, as detailed in the experience section of the person specification. You should be able to travel efficiently and effectively between various work locations within Orkney to meet the operational requirements of the Service.
