Job summaryWe are looking for an enthusiastic Band 3 Therapy Support Worker to join our community children's Occupational Therapy Team.Working as part of an experienced team alongside Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, and other Therapy Assistant Practitioners, you will be providing Occupational Therapy interventions in a variety of community settings including schools and home environments.The role will involve assisting trained staff and Therapy Assistant Practitioners with assessing patients, including liaising with families and staff to gain social histories. You will be asked to carry out prescribed intervention programmes independently. You will also be required to support with equipment provision and group work.As a service we are innovative, forward thinking and encourage staff engagement. You will have the opportunity to be involved in service / quality improvement and develop leadership skills, as well as engaging in student placement education.Main duties of the jobWorking as part of the therapy and wider multidisciplinary team, therapy support workers use developed skills under the supervision of registered therapists and may also work alone and with other non-registered therapy staff. Tasks and responsibilities include the direct delivery of clinical, technical or scientific activities following the completion of role specific competencies. Therapy support workers are able to make fact-based judgements and suggest treatment progressions to a registered therapist.This role requires knowledge and understanding of facts, principles, processes and general concepts in their field of work. The post holder will carry out a wider range of delegated duties and will have responsibilities, with supervision and guidance available when needed. Post holder will contribute to service improvement and are responsible for their own development.
