Volunteering Assistant Are you interested in working with volunteers? Can you manage a busy and varied workload as well as build relationships with a range of people? About us Two of our museums - the National Railway Museum in York, and Locomotion in Shildon - are home to iconic locomotives and an unrivalled collection of engineering brilliance. We celebrate the past, present and future of innovation on the railways. Our Volunteers play an important role in the successful delivery of our visitor offer and operational activities. They also support us in caring for our collections and assist our Workshop & Traction team, making a difference to our museum and everything we do. To help us continue this great work, we are looking for a Volunteering Assistant to join us on a full-time, permanent basis, based at the National Railway Museum in York. About the role You will assist in the planning, organisation and successful delivery of the volunteer programme across the Railway Museum in York, and Locomotion in Shildon, ensuring that every volunteer has a fantastic experience with us. You will help to complete recruitment administration and will support enrichment through induction, training and events, and will process vital records including keeping volunteer records up to date and processing volunteer expense claims. At all times, you will effectively communicate with volunteers through in person engagement, emails, and a weekly newsletter. About you Joining us, you will bring interpersonal and communication skills with a personable approach; you will be able to work with a variety of different people of different ages and from different backgrounds. You will have an appreciation of the importance of volunteers to the success of the museum, and an enthusiasm for working with and championing volunteers. You will have strong administration skills, and excellent organisational skills across a range of areas, including time management and planning.
