Job summaryWe are seeking an enthusiastic and highly motivated, Band 7 Ward Manager to lead the nursing team in the Heart Assessment Centre (HAC). This is a full time (37.5 hours per week) permanent position working Monday - Friday.Heart Assessment Centre - is a 9 bedded area with 3 assessment trolleys. Patients are received directly from London Ambulance Service with different types of cardiac conditions ranging from acute myocardial infarction and arrhythmia to patients in cardiac arrest and is known as Hammersmith's front door. Transfers from referring hospitals may also be admitted into this area. Turnover of patients is fast as once completing their assessment they may be discharged home or moved to a ward bed for further treatment.You will be joining a dynamic and friendly team who has a passion for delivering high standards of patient care, investing in the professional development of the nursing team, looks after well being and has a strong commitment to retaining their workforce within the directorate.You will be supported by the Senior Nursing team and have the opportunity for further development that can be tailored to the successful candidate and include both leadership and clinical components.Main duties of the jobTo undertake the assessment of patients/clients with acute cardiology needs.To develop, implement and evaluate programmes of care to meet the needs of patients cared for within the Heart Assessment Centre.To guide, advise and direct other staff in the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of patient/client care.To initiate risk assessment processes to determine risks to the health and wellbeing of patients/clients with complex care needs, taking relevant action to minimise these risks.To lead a team of staff in emergency and other acute situations, ensuring that the patient's/client's needs are met and that significant others are supported.To promote service user involvement in the planning, delivery and evaluation of care, respecting their wishes, beliefs and dignity.To independently liaise and communicate effectively with all members of the multidisciplinary team and other agencies involved in the care of the patient/client.Attend Adult cardiac arrests, using skills in line with Trust Policy.About usAt Imperial College Healthcare you can achieve extraordinary things with extraordinary people, working with leading clinicians pushing boundaries in patient care.
