The successful candidate will be expected to participate in all core aspects of routine Cellular Pathology including microtomy, embedding, special staining techniques, Immunohistochemistry and specimen transfers. Previous laboratory experience will be advantageous including knowledge of quality management, health & safety and quality improvement . The Cellular Pathology Department is in an exciting period of service development and has begun implementing a Digital Pathology solution, which the post holders will have the opportunity to be involved with. The central Histology laboratory service is situated on the Royal Hampshire Hospital site in Winchester with a small satellite team based at the Basingstoke & North Hampshire Hospital. The post holders will work routinely as part of the team based at the Royal Hampshire County Hospital with a commitment to the Basingstoke site as part of a BMS rotational team to lead the team and perform frozen section and OSNA techniques, once training where required is in place. We support IBMS Specialist Portfolios and extending practical skill sets for registered scientists looking to move to more specialist roles after practical competencies for the role have been met.
