    • Job summary We have 2 exciting new opportunities for two Educational Fellows in Palliative Medicine that is fully accredited by the Brighton and Sussex Medical School. The posts are vacant and available to start as soon as convenient for the successful applicants. The post-holders will be expected to work closely with our Undergraduate Medical Education Team in order to develop their competencies via a structured teaching programme. The posts will also involve completion of a Postgraduate Certificate in Education at Brighton University that is fully funded by Medical Education. The posts are based at Conquest Hospital and Eastbourne District General Hospital for a maximum period of up to one year. The posts will especially be advantageous for a F3 year / CT level doctor interested in a career in Palliative Medicine or associated careers. The individual will have an opportunity to develop holistic medicine skills within a supportive, collegiate environment, whilst also developing a recognised clinical teaching portfolio. Main duties of the job The appointees will undertake clinical dutiesunder supervision that reflect their level of competency. Although the team work cross site the successful appointees can be primarily based at either Conquest or Eastbourne District General Hospitals. There will be a further 16 hours (40%) to support Undergraduate Education across both within medical wards and the Postgraduate Medical Centre. This time will be spent flexibly to support undergraduate activities as well as supporting post graduating learning. It is proposed that during these periods the appointees will spend one day a week in the Education Centre. The appointees will have 4 hours per week (10%) for Personal Professional Development working towards completion of a PG Certificate, Diploma or MA in Clinical Education. The appointees will be part of an established specialist palliative care team supporting patients with complex palliative care needs and all patients in the last days of life. These posts will come with a 1 in 5 weekend on call commitment with local Hospices (St Michael's Hospice for appointee based at Conquest Hospital:www.stmichaelshospice.com/, and St Wilfrid's Hospice for appointee based at Eastbourne DGH: www.stwhospice.org). The successful post-holder will be responsible for the assessment and treatment of a wide range of Orthopaedic patients throughout their elective pathway. • The post holder will work within the elective therapy team at Heatherwood Hospital and will work alongside a team of Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, Orthopaedic technicians, and therapy assistants. • They will provide a high standard of occupational therapy to patients throughout the elective pathway. • They will demonstrate excellent communication and collaborative working to provide a high quality and efficient service. • Clinical supervision, appraisal and teaching of technicians, assistants and students will be a core component of this role. • With support from the Principal Therapists and their Team lead, they will participate in training, service development and audit. • They will work across Orthopaedic pre-assessment, day surgery, inpatient, and private units and work flexibly across an extended seven-day service which covers 07:00-19:30pm Monday to Saturday and 08:00-1600 on Sunday.     • Job summary An exciting opportunity has arisen for a full time Clinical Perfusion Scientist at Wythenshawe Hospital. The two cardiac surgery centres in Manchester merged in April 2024 to form a single site at Wythenshawe. Over 1500 adult cardiac cases will be performed each year including CABG, valve surgery and repairs of the Aorta. We are one of five Adult Heart and Lung Transplant centres in England and have a heart failure programme to compliment this. Patients can be offered several types of mechanical circulatory support including VA ECMO and temporary VAD's. We also offer long term VAD support with the implantation of the Heartmate 3. Our Lung Transplants are carried out on the Wythenshawe Hybrid Circuit. We also have plans to revisit the use of EVLP for donor lungs this year. Wythenshawe is one of only seven commissioned Respiratory ECMO centres in the UK . We carry out retrievals from outside ICU's which brings another dimension to our role. All these specialities make Wythenshawe a special place to be a perfusionist and place us at the forefront of developments in all these fields.
