Job summaryThe midwifery teams at WUTH provide care to approximately 3200 women and their families in the antenatal, intrapartum and postnatal period, both low and high-risk women. Encompassed within the unit is a Level 3 Unit for Neonatal Services, Children's Services and Women's Unit. We have a reputation for innovation in providing high-quality care to women in a hospital/community setting.The successful candidate will be autonomous practitioner, taking responsibility for the provision of care throughout the antenatal, intrapartum and postnatal periods for women and babies in the hospital/community setting. You will also support the team/ward in the effective management of the clinical area. You will support, supervise and teach staff/students evidence-based client centred care, which is of a high standard, being responsible for ensuring that all care is delivered according to Trust policies and procedures and maintaining associated records of care.Main duties of the jobThe post is advertised for a midwife who is passionate about home birth and low risk midwifery care. You will work with in Highfield midwifery team. Highfield is an award winning team that cares for women who would like a home birth or to birth their baby in Seacombe Birth Centre. Since 2018 Highfield team has increased WUTH home birth rate, and continue to promote choice of birth setting.As a Highfield midwife you will be rostered for day and night on call for birth availability. You will also have a caseload of 1:36 women per year per WTE. The team covers the all of Wirral. Highfield team are seven midwives who are dynamic and passionate about midwifery.If you enjoy low risk evidence-based and individualised midwifery care, then this could be the post for you. . You should have excellent interpersonal skills and a clear demonstration of the ability to provide personalised maternity care.
