Job summaryThis is a varied and exciting job for an experienced and competent physiologist who wishes to continue undertaking high-quality adult echocardiograms but also wants to contribute to workforce and departmental development in the field of echocardiography in a department described as having 'outstanding' plans for development by the external GIRFT review in 2022.Your time will be split between clinical scanning, including echocardiographer-led valve clinics, complex echocardiography studies and regular expert level teaching, supervision and mentorship for those training in echocardiography.The post holder must be confident and competent in teaching and supporting members of the healthcare team within the cardiology department to achieve BSE level 2 and members of the wider hospital to BSE level 1. You will have autonomy to design and implement suitable training packages for all levels of trainees, from Healthcare Scientists to in-house medical staff.This post will involve liaising with Health Education England, Trust partners and external organisations to explore opportunities for trainee funding.In addition, there will be a requirement to support the expansion of other pathology specific echocardiography clinics and, working alongside the Band 8b Heart & Lung Manager, Medical Directorate Managers and Cardiologist, develop echocardiography services further and participate in the development plans for a new Clinical Diagnostic Centre for the area.Main duties of the jobThe main duties of the job are split into clinical; training and development; and leadership and Administrative.
