This vacancy is a full-time post. Background The Aluminium Lighting Company distributes lighting columns and traffic and sign posts together with brackets and other embellishments made from aluminium. The Company sells to customers across the UK and internationally. Customers include local Councils, contractors and strategic distributors. ALC has a large factory unit in Cymmer, South Wales where we assemble and distribute our products. ALC prides itself on working hard so that the customer enjoys the highest possible level of customer service. The initial focus will be on learning and performing finance duties. As the person’s awareness of the Company’s activities grows, they will take on activities in other functions. Finance And Administration Support We are looking to recruit someone to provide Finance And Administration Support. The successful person should in time cover: Input sales orders into Accounts software • Follow procedures for accurate data entry into Accounts software Expenses reports • Compile data from receipts and other documents Enter purchase invoices • Follow procedures for accurate data entry in order to enter purchase invoices, ie check against purchase orders and delivery notes Supplier payments • Identify payments that need to be made to suppliers • Follow procedures in order to make payments to suppliers Cashbook and Bank reconciliation • Identify/compile data from cashbook and bank documents, manual and accounts software • Analyse data and reconcile to appropriate documents and files Will be required to take on more bookkeeping activities as the role develops, eg • Debtors ledger • Make payments via BACS Will be required to take on roles in other functions • Complete effective administration activities in other Company functions There will be other duties required from time to time as specified by the Board and the Finance Manager The successful person will have the following qualities: Work experience Experience in bookkeeping principles and practice including: • Purchase ledger and daybook • Cashbook entries and Bank reconciliation Educational Background • Functionally literate and numerate • IT literate, able to use Word and Excel and be trained to enter data and use the Company Database • Able to research, collect and organise information from customers, online resources, documents and identify and communicate key issues and factors with internal and external customers • Awareness/understanding or qualification in an accounts or bookkeeping subject area at Level 3 or equivalent • Knowledge of Sage Accounting or other equivalent software Personal qualities • Honest and trustworthy • Will treat all Company and personal information as confidential at all times • Able to follow procedures accurately and thoroughly • Able to work to targets and meet deadlines • Must be able to work effectively in a small team and with other functions/disciplines within the Company • Must be able to create and maintain effective working relationships using the telephone and e-mail The position will be based at our factory in Cymmer. The normal hours of work will be 8.00am to 4.30pm Monday to Thursday and 8.00am to 4.00pm on Friday. Holidays will be 23 days per annum plus Bank Holidays. Pay will be £25,700 per annum.
