Job summaryThe Independent Optometric Adviser will be professionally responsible for Wales General Ophthalmic Services (WGOS) delivered by GOC registered professionals across the Powys Teaching Health Board (PTHB) area.Responsible for providing clinical leadership and advice across the Health Board.Work collaboratively with the senior leadership team, other identified clinicians, and external stakeholders to implement the strategic vision and facilitate clinically led service transformation across hospital and primary care services.Providing clinical leadership, professional and strategic advice to the Health Board in the development of Optometry services, working closely with the Clinical Directors, Medical Directors, Associate Medical Directors and Clinical Leads and other identified clinicians within the Health Board to implement the strategic vision and facilitate clinically led service transformation across all patient pathways and services.Leading development and implementation of All Wales policies relating to WGOS and contributing to wider corporate strategies and policies.Main duties of the jobProfessionally responsible for all General Optical Council registered staffemployed and contracted with the Health Board.Advise on the planning and commissioning of eye health services includingdelivery and future development.Be the principal source of advice within the Health Board in respect of Optometry and required to operate independently, complying with Codes of Conduct and organisational policies and procedures.Advise on the priorities for investment in Eye health and Optometry services.The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.About usBeing the smallest Heath Board in Wales means that you won't get lost in the crowd.
