Main duties of the job The role involves working at the level of an ST1 or 2 trainee. This job is split between 6 months at Charing Cross hospital and 6 months at St Mary's Hospital. This primarily involves the care and assessment of trauma and elective patients, day-to-day care of inpatients, assisting in the operating theatres as well as routine and out of hours resident on call duties. There are also opportunities to participate in specialist theatre sessions and outpatient clinics, to improve experience in these areas. In addition, candidates can avail themselves of the opportunities to become involved with the work undertaken by the Academic Orthopaedic Department. If the candidate is keen to be involved, there are opportunities to attend or even present at the monthly cross-site Journal Club Meetings and theatre equipment workshops. This post carries an on-call banding currently graded at 1B. In this post you will be a member of the surgical team responsible for the delivery of high quality assessment and care to our trauma and orthopaedic patients. You will work with a multidisciplinary team including consultants, junior doctors, nurses, therapists and other allied health professionals. You will work on the junior surgical rota which offers a resident on call service. The posts are well supervised by an experienced middle grade registrar and fellow tier as well as consultant orthopaedic surgeons.
