Job summaryPortsmouth Hospitals University NHS Trust is seeking an enthusiastic, forward-thinking Locum Consultant Physician in Respiratory Medicine to join us on a fixed term basis for 12-months. The post offers an exciting opportunity for either a recently trained or established respiratory consultant to gain expertise and / or develop a sub-specialty service within our busy and visionary department.Main duties of the jobThe successful applicant will work within the Respiratory team based at QA Hospital in Portsmouth. There will be opportunities within a variety of Respiratory sub-specialities, to be negotiated based on clinician preference alongside service requirements. The successful applicant would also participate in the inpatient management of respiratory patients and general medical patients, including participating in the on call rota. The successful applicant would also be expected to undertake inpatient work covering the three respiratory wards and respiratory high care unit along with undertaking reviews of respiratory patients on the admissions unit. The successful applicant would undertake a range of duties including advice and guidance to both the community and the hospital along with delivering two outpatient clinics per week. The successful applicant would be involved in delivering respiratory procedures such as bronchoscopy and pleural procedures in their off-ward time. Each respiratory consultant provides weekend cover for 4 weekends per year plus an additional day for bank holiday cover.Portsmouth Hospital University Trust has many trainees, and the successful applicant would be expected to undertake supervision and education for members of the wider multidisciplinary team.
