They will work collaboratively with the general practice team to meet the needs of patients, supporting the delivery of policies and procedures. The Practice Nurse will have the opportunity to develop their chronic disease knowledge and skills as part of a wider nursing team, to deliver care to patients in General Practice providing support for both patients and colleagues.Your application will be stronger if you can demonstrate any of the following:- You have an enthusiasm for primary care nursing- You are familiar with the primary care computer system EMIS- Have experience working with or within a multi-disciplinary team- You tell us of other things that you think make you an ideal candidateMain duties of the jobThe following are the core responsibilities of a Practice Nurse:VenepunctureAnticoagulation MonitoringECG & 24hr Blood PressuresImmunisation and vaccination of children and adultsTravel ImmunisationsEar examination and syringingWound care and dressingsFirst aid and management of emergenciesAssisting in minor operation/womens health clinic sessionsHealth Promotion and EducationChronic Disease ManagementCervical smear screeningCare and maintenance of equipment and treatment roomsProvide contemporaneous, accurate documentation of all care given to patientsProviding clinical advice and support to other professionals within the practiceThe use of the EMIS clinical system for recording consultations, data capture and to produce reports/statisticsAttendance and input to the regular practice meetings, as deemed appropriate.Attendance at regular training/updates identified in your Personal Development PlanTo maintain skills and develop competence in new areas depending on service needs.
