Job summaryWe are looking for enthusiastic and motivated registered mental health nurses to join our supportive treatment ward teams based within adult acute mental health services. There is currently a vacancy on both Oak ward and Beech ward.Both Oak and Beech are treatment wards within adult acute mental health services in Hafan y Coed, University Hospital of Llandough.We can offer you:A supernumerary period when you start, to support you and to orientate yourself to our services and processes.Supportive ward management teams keen to develop staff and help them work towards progression in their careers.For newly qualified staff a named preceptor who will support you during your first 12-18 months as a newly registered nurseA Welcome Pack and Preceptorship workbook to support your development as a Band 5 nurseStudy day opportunities within the UHB to build workplace skills including training in talking therapies, physical health training and WARRN risk assessment to deliver as part of patient care on the ward.Support from the Practice Development Team to look at future learning opportunities.A clinical supervisor outside of your ward team.Managerial supervision by ward management teamMain duties of the jobIn this role your main duties will include:Being part of a supportive multidisciplinary team. Advocate for your patient as a primary nurse.Support your patients by developing and implementing intervention plans.Safely administer medication to patients.Assess risk and implement risk assessment management and safety plans.Use excellent communication skills to build rapport and de-escalate.Assess and support your patients mental and physical health.Provide a therapeutic and safe environment to aid recovery.Both full time and part time hours available.Expectation to work a mix of days an night shifts.The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.About usCardiff and Vale University Health Boardis one of the largest Integrated Health Boards in the UK, employing over 15,000 staff, providing over 100 specialist services.
