Job summaryAs a Senior Cardiac Physiologist, the post holder will be required to work as an independent, competent practitioner within the Cardiac Investigations Unit. Working practice should be in accordance with departmental and national guidelines, recognising expertise of the individual to adapt practice appropriately if required. The successful candidate will need to work in all areas of the department. Provide complex specialist Clinical Cardiology diagnostic and therapeutic procedures to inpatients and outpatients of all ages from a wide range of specialities. Undertake clinical interpretation of results and provision of reports for their own and others' work.The successful candidate should hold a BSc Clinical Physiology or the equivalent with a minimum of one year experience in a cardiology department.Main duties of the jobUndertakes competently, completely, and timely a range of specialised clinical (cardiac and respiratory) physiology investigations. Participates independently in highly specialised procedures. For example, 24-hour tape analysis, interpretation of exercise tolerance tests, pacemaker analysis.Undertakes direct patient contact for clinical physiology procedures within departmental and national guidelines.Works competently and independently to analyse, interpret and report complex clinical data e.g. Cardiac catheterisation) including obtaining patient consent and any drug administration as necessary.To communicate with Medical and nursing staff unsuspected results that leads to patient diagnosis and treatment.About usAll new colleagues can expect to receive a warm and friendly Wirral welcome from the very first time they make contact with us.
