Job Title: Strategy & Programme Officer Starting Salary: £37,035 progressing to £40,476 Hours: 37.0 Location: Countywide Contract Type: Permanent Directorate: Growth & Environment About the team This is an exciting opportunity for a Strategy and Programme Officer to join our dynamic team. The role involves supporting the development and implementation of transportation strategies and early scheme development to encourage more journeys to be made by walking, cycling, passenger transport and other sustainable modes and support our vision for a cleaner, greener, healthier Hertfordshire. The role supports the team with transport strategy development, programme management and supporting early transport scheme development to increase sustainable transport, improve air quality, support economic growth and tackle climate change. This role supports the Strategy & Programme Managers and works collaboratively with other teams in the Transport and Highways Service including consultant and contractor partners. About the role We are looking for an enthusiastic and self-motivated individual who wants to work with us to deliver sustainable transport strategies and infrastructure that will help make Hertfordshire cleaner, greener and more sustainable. You will be supporting the team with transport strategy development, programme management and supporting early transport scheme development to increase sustainable transport, improve air quality, support economic growth and tackle climate change. This position assists supports the Strategy & Programme Managers and works collaboratively with other teams in the Transport and Highways Service including consultant and contractor partners. We ask that you identify examples of your experience in transport, highways, planning, and/or sustainable development either in your CV or via a supporting statement in your profile. Be able to demonstrate in your application instances where you have managed competing priorities and delivered work effectively, accurately, and on time. About you Essential: Relevant degree (e.g. Geography, Transport Planning, Business or Engineering) or equivalent relevant qualification or experience Interest in working within transport, highways, planning, and/or sustainable development Good written and verbal communication skills Ability to deliver work accurately, on time and managing competing priorities. Knowledge of general IT systems and software Analysing data and report writing Responding to queries Working collaboratively as a member of a team Desirable Experience in finance management would be an advantage. Working with stakeholders Awareness of project management would be an advantage. Working in a political environment would be an advantage.
