Job summaryAn exciting opportunity has arisen for a Team Sister to work with the Out of Hours Team within the East Lancashire District Nursing Service.A permanent part time Band 6 position is available for an enthusiastic and dedicated registered nurse with substantial previous experience in the District Nursing Service. For the successful candidate this is an excellent opportunity to work in a supportive environment as a Team Sister, developing high level skills in patient assessment and care and contributing to leadership within the team.The post holder will be expected to work flexibly across the District Nursing Service. However, this post is focused on the night nursing service which currently works between 21:30 and 07:30 every night. The night team covers the whole of East Lancashire and delivers essential nursing care to patients alongside other out of hours colleagues. Registered nurses work alongside health care assistants to deliver safe and effective care overnight. Occasional day time work will be required to meet your learning and development needs. This a 7-day service, including weekends and Bank HolidaysCommunity nursing experience is essential.We promote flexible working opportunities to help meet work life balance.Main duties of the jobAssists the Clinical Team Leader in the co-ordination and delivery of care in line with District Nursing Strategy nationally and locally.Assessment of new and complex patientsDelivery of comprehensive Senior Nurse Reviews of patients in their own homes and other community care settingsWorking as part of a wider multidisciplinary teamSupporting students and new staff in learning and development in the serviceDevelopment of the team through leadership and role modellingManagement of staffing rotas and allocation of clinical workEstablishing and maintaining effective communication with all clinical staff, patients and familiesYou will have the ability to work contracted hours rotationally across day and night shifts, as reasonably required by the needs of the service.The post holder must demonstrate professional leadership and be passionate about patient care.
