We are looking for a senior civil engineering technician to join our team. The Technical Support Specialist is a key role as part of the School's Engineering Technical Services Team, delivering high-quality technical services and operational support to support education, industrial engagement, and research activities. This role will involve specific support for the fluid mechanics laboratory (including multiple wave tanks and flume facilities) and geotechnical engineering laboratories (including the centrifuge facility and various soil /rock mechanics teaching and research laboratories). Your priorities will include: Maintaining applications of current and developing technology, undertaking engineering design, manufacture, construction and operation of equipment. Applying proven techniques and procedures to the solution of practical engineering tasks and applying engineering skills and knowledge to find creative solutions to practical problems. Ensuring the smooth running of technical provision in your specialised areas, supporting students undertaking laboratory practicals, research, and industrial projects. Who we're looking for: Good problem-solving skills, ability to apply technical knowledge to solving operational challenges and ability to improvise creative technical solutions. Technical expertise in the maintenance of civil engineering equipment. Excellent interpersonal skills, including evidence of team working and the ability to be proactive in responding to the needs of staff and students.
