Job summaryWe have an exciting opportunity for a registered health care professional to join our Emergency Department as a Trainee Advanced Clinical Practitioner.Our Advanced Practitioners are highly skilled autonomous clinicians who see, diagnose, treat and manage patients presenting to all areas of the Emergency Department.You will have the training to gain enhanced skills beyond that of primary professional registration.The successful applicant will have a brilliant opportunity to be enrolled onto the MSc Advanced Practice course at the University of Central Lancashire (UCLan) and be supported by a named clinical mentor and consultant supervisor in practice.The post holder will be based within the Emergency department at Royal Blackburn Hospital, but the role does include working across our Emergency pathway at Burnley General Hospital and Accrington Victoria Hospital.Clinically, you will be responsible to the Clinical Directors within the Division, and professionally to the Lead Advanced Practitioner for the Emergency Department.You will work as part of an AP led workforce which to cover the specified departments and support the model throughout a variety of specialities over a 7 day, 24 hour period.Main duties of the jobThe post holder will take a lead role in the promoting of high quality care for emergency patients in East Lancashire. They will provide clinicalexpertise and advice, demonstrating a sound understanding of the issuesrelating to the identification, assessment, diagnosis, treatment andmanagement of all patients within an emergency setting. They will provide Safe, Personal and Effective care through clinical audit and continuous quality improvement, implementing evidence based practice and by involvement in the clinical governance process. We are committed as a team to provide a working environment that issupportive, responsive and realistic with the pressures we face.Job descriptionJob responsibilitiesThis is an exciting time to join our ever expanding team of Advanced Practitioners in the Emergency department, as the role is ever evolving and changing i. e clinical supervision/support from the Emergency Department Consultants and Lead ACP; and opportunity to gain advanced clinical skills in procedures such as chest drain insertion, Arterial and central line placement, lumbar punctures and advanced airway management - these skills will be supported by candidates being offered the RCEM credentialing programme . You will be expected to provide leadership, supervision and education to nursing staff, colleagues and the wider medical and surgical teams.Successful candidates will be expected to rotate across all areas of the Emergency Department ( Resus, Majors, Paediatrics and Urgent Care)Historically this service has been predominantly nurse led, but with an ever changing and developing workforce we wish to invite other allied health professional to apply for these dynamic roles, to further complement our team and positively impact patient care. This role is demanding, requiring significant experience, enthusiasm and drive to ensure the care we provide to deteriorating patients is evidence based, safe and effective. You will be expected to work a combination of day and night shifts to ensure service provision is maintained.Educational opportunities will include a bespoke individualised learning portfolio that will be adapted in order to meet your specific learning requirements, ensuring development of competencies required for the role.
