Job summaryAn exciting opportunity has arisen for a suitably qualified and demonstrable experienced nurse to undertake training to an Advanced Practice level, within the Interventional Neuro Radiology team.This role will provide support and care to patients undergoing Interventional Neuro Radiology procedures, as well as providing expert level support and education to the multidisciplinary teams associated with these patients within the hospital. You will develop a nationwide network of neurovascular nurses to ensure that the service provided at Derriford is at the forefront of clinical practice.You will become a neurovascular expert with a passion for developing the care delivered to patients undergoing neurovascular procedures, recognising the physical and psychological effects these conditions can have on the patient, their families and their lives.***Preference will be given to internal Trust staff, as well as 'Priority' and 'At Risk' status including NHS At Risk staff throughout Devon who are able to display recent relevant experience as dictated by the Person Specification.***Main duties of the jobTo successfully complete an Advanced Practice Degree MSc (Level 7) programme in line with the trust framework for advanced practice and their primary professional regulatory body, with the expectation that on successful completion the post holder will move into a qualified Advanced Practitioner (AP) role at band 8a.The post holder will be working towards fulfilling the expectations and core capabilities of an AP as set out in the Multi-professional framework for advanced clinical practice in England (HEE, 2017) the UHP Trust Framework for Advanced Practice and the Trust AP Job Description.For the purposes of this job description, the definition of neurovascular disease/condition includes the following: subarachnoid haemorrhage (non-traumatic), intracranial haemorrhage (non-traumatic) and intraventricular haemorrhage in relation to cerebral aneurysm, arteriovenous malformation and dural fistulae as well as ischaemic stroke.The Neurovascular ACP will be based at Derriford hospital working alongside the Interventional Neuroradiology Consultants (INRs) but will be an integral part of a quality driven regional referral service offered to all patients assessed and treated for neurovascular diseases including both haemorrhagic and ischaemic conditions and pathologies as outline above.About usWe are a people business - where every member of staff matters and can make a difference. If you have not heard from us within 4 weeks of the closing date, please assume that you have not been shortlisted.Job descriptionJob responsibilitiesThe neurovascular ACP will help coordinate service provision in the inpatient and outpatient settings providing support to the patients and carers including liaising with all members of the multidisciplinary team to ensure patients have the most appropriate care package tailored to their needs.The neurovascular ACP will run a nurse-led clinic for patients after acute (and where appropriate elective) admissions, offering advice, information and support to patients and families, thereby supporting and complimenting the role of the Neurosurgeons in these clinics.The neurovascular ACP will help to coordinate inpatient and outpatient investigations, elective and acute admissions and support the angiogram service.The neurovascular ACP will be an educational resource to all members of the trust wide multidisciplinary team regarding practice in the provision of care to this patient group.The neurovascular ACP will develop and optimise the way services are delivered and ensure the service is designed and based on patient need, showing an interest service/quality improvement and its continual need for implementation.As part of the Apprenticeship programme the post holder will be working towards the following and on successful completion will be able to: Advanced clinical practice is delivered by experienced, registered health and care practitioners.
