The Vacancy Do you have an interest in people and care about helping others live fulfilling lives? We are looking for a caring individual who shares Quarriers value to join our team as a Transition Mentor. Your new opportunity Stopover project provides an accommodation based housing support service to 14 young people aged 16 - 25 years. Each young person has their own bedsit room, which comprises of a sitting room / bedroom, kitchen and en-suite bathroom. The aim of the service is to support young people to develop their independent living skills in order to move on to less supported accommodation or a tenancy of their own. The project is staffed 24 hours a day and this position is permanent nightshift The young people supported by the service have adverse childhood experiences and secondary issues such as poor mental health, addictions, involvement with criminal justice system and enduring trauma. Transition mentors currently work on a rolling 7 week rota which comprises of early, day, late and sleepover shifts. This is a full time permanent role working 39 hours per week. What you will need to succeed/bring to the role Reliability, flexibility and a positive attitude Ability to build trusting long-lasting relationships Empathy and excellent communication skills Excellent team player Ability to apply transferable life experience and skills to support and enable individuals.
