Advert Renfrewshire Council operates a wide range of services to maintain the tree and woodland landscape across the area. We are using new technologies and new ways of working to deliver improved services across our communities. The role of Tree and Woodlands Supervisor sits within the newly formed Neighbourhood Services and is responsible for the directs supervision of the Arbor Squad operating as part of the councils Proactive Tree Management Strategy. This is a new role for a person who has a proven track record in supervising, leading and managing teams either in arboriculture or similar relatable environment. A primary outcome of this role will be to supervise, lead and ensure the quality works of the arboricultural teams. We would like to hear from people who have the technical skills to manage arboriculture operations and has experience of using technology to enhance tree and woodland services. You will be leading and supervising a small set team that is committed to delivering arboricultural services to the residents, communities and businesses of Renfrewshire and your day-to-day work will improve the environment of our communities, therefore, it is required you have experience of deploying, motivating and managing staff. An HNC or above qualification in Forestry, Arboriculture, Woodland or other equivalent qualification and relevant post qualification experience, evidence of continuing, relevant, personal development, experience of a broad range of tree management and inspection activities and experience of overseeing contracts and resources whilst ensuring the provision of a high-quality service are essential. You must also have a proven track record in finance including managing contracts and control of budgets, knowledge of environmental legislation as related to Tree and Woodland operations and working knowledge of the hazard involved in tree and woodland activities and the application of the Health & Safety at Work Act and other relevant safety legislation and regulations relating to the sector. This role will involve working with a wide range of internal, external customers and front line service managers so you will require the ability to work well with Senior Officers, Unions, Team Leaders, Partner’s and Elected Members. Wide knowledge of tree management, species, disease identification and current best practice relating to these, and Full Driving license is also essential. If successful, you will be required to undertake a Disclosure Scotland check, the level of check will be determined by the duties of the post.
