Position: As a Communications Officer, you’ll play a key role in supporting the delivery of LGPS Central’s internal and external communications strategy. You’ll work closely with the Communications Manager to ensure our stakeholders, colleagues, and wider audiences are informed, engaged and inspired by what we do. In this role, you will assist in delivering high-quality internal and external communications, coordinating PR activities, and ensuring consistent messaging across all channels, both internally and externally. This role is perfect for someone with a passion for storytelling, an eye for detail, and a genuine interest in public sector pensions and investment. Key Responsibilities: Support the Communications Manager in delivering and coordinating internal and external communication strategies and campaigns that align with LGPS Central’s purpose, values and business priorities. Draft, edit and publish high-quality content across a variety of platforms – including press releases, newsletters, speeches, the website, social media and internal channels such as the Central Hub – ensuring consistency in tone, message and brand. Manage and enhance LGPS Central’s digital presence, maintaining accurate and engaging content across our website and social media platforms, and supporting efforts to grow our audience and engagement. Coordinate day-to-day media relations activity, including updating media contact lists, monitoring coverage, preparing press materials and supporting timely responses to media enquiries. Support the delivery of corporate events, webinars and employee engagement activities, contributing to the planning, promotion and execution of initiatives that reflect and reinforce our organisational culture. Monitor and evaluate communications activity using tools like Meltwater and analytics platforms, producing reports and insights to inform future strategy and improve effectiveness. Stay informed of industry trends and best practice, carrying out research and horizon scanning to support forward-looking, relevant and impactful communication and engagement efforts. Requirements: Strong written and verbal communication skills, with a flair for creating clear, engaging content. Experience in a communications, PR or marketing role (in-house or agency). Excellent organisational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines. Proactive, collaborative, and comfortable working in a regulated and professional environment. Confident using social media platforms, email marketing tools, and basic CMS systems. Understanding of brand management and tone of voice. Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in public relations, Journalism or related field Or suitable experience Other information: What do we offer?
