Job summary The NHS Lung Cancer Screening Programme (LCSP) offers all smokers or former smokers aged between 55-74 a Lung Health Check (LHC), and those identified as high risk of lung cancer a low-dose CT scan (LDCT). By the end of March 2025, over 2.5 million people had been invited to a LHC, over 1.2 million people had attended a LHC, and over 750,000 LDCTs had been performed (first and follow-up). This has resulted in over 7,000 cancers being diagnosed, 75% at Stage 1 or 2. It is expected that the LCSP will be fully rolled out across England to all those eligible by 2029/2030 at which point it will transition to become an NHS cancer screening programme.
