Senior Carer Support Officer Job description An opening has arisen for the Senior Carers Support Officer role within the East Riding Carers Support Service to cover maternity leave. The successful post holder will be based at the Carers Centre, Cross Street in Beverley. However, the role requires the ability to travel across the whole East Riding. The post involves supporting and deputising for the Team Manager with operational duties of the Carers Support Team. Managing and supervising staff on a regular basis (both formally and informally). Staff Management skills are desirable, as responsibilities of the post include recruitment, interviewing, induction, supervision, performance management, instigating disciplinary procedures and responding effectively to comments, compliments and complaints, informing/training. The Senior Carers Support Officer will work with informal (unpaid) carers in the community providing advice, information, signposting and support ensuring carers are recognised, valued, continue to be supported and are able to make informed choices. You would work in accordance with the Care Act 2014, undertake person centred carer's 'My Conversation'/complex Assessments and formulate support plans to address carers eligible need, whilst monitoring and reviewing support thereafter. Chairing meetings and also working closely with other professionals are a requirement of the post. Knowledge of fundamental processes; carer assessment and eligibility, charging and financial assessment, support planning and reviewing is key. Understanding of the Mental Capacity Act 2005 and the Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards and knowledge of organisational policies and procedures including supervision, EDR, attendance management etc. Understanding of partner agencies i.e. health, voluntary and independent sector and their service responsibilities. For this role you should have excellent communication skills, an ability to manage your time effectively, working under pressure and being flexible in your approach are essential requirements of the role. You will also possess excellent written and IT skills and be expected to input data on the adult information system. Promoting and awareness raising of carers services across the East Riding of Yorkshire. Up to date knowledge to provide comprehensive advice, information and support including signposting for carers, other professionals and organisations. The role also has a health and safety responsibility, requiring that risk assessments are undertaken on a monthly basis. Maintaining and promoting effective working relationships with other agencies and professionals. You would demonstrate an understanding of the needs of carers who require care and support and the individuals that are being supported.
