    • The Vacancy The postholder will split their time between the Nematode Diagnostic Service (October to April) and the potato breeding glasshouses (April to October). The Nematode Diagnostic Service analyses soil samples provided by customers for plant-parasitic nematodes (and associated nematode transmitted viruses) relevant to a range of crops grown in the UK and beyond. JHL also undertakes potato breeding for a range of commercial customers. This involves significant glasshouse work including potato crossing, seed extraction and processing, transplanting seedlings and general maintenance and care of potato plants. We are seeking a candidate who has basic laboratory skills, experience in the use of wet soil science especially associated with nematodes. . Most of the work will involve working with potato, soft fruit and barley samples, the post-holder will be provided with full training in all the diagnostic services offered. About the Role: As a Sports Coach in Sheffield, you will deliver engaging and inclusive sports sessions, supporting students of varying abilities to develop their skills and passion for physical activity. You will play a key role in promoting a positive sporting culture, enhancing students’ physical and mental well-being, and encouraging them to embrace teamwork and perseverance both in sports and in everyday life. Key Responsibilities: Plan and lead a range of sports and physical education activities designed to develop fundamental skills and promote fitness. Inspire students to actively participate, regardless of their ability level, creating an inclusive and supportive atmosphere. Support and coach school sports teams in preparation for competitions and events. Promote fair play, resilience, and a positive attitude throughout all sporting activities. Work collaboratively with teaching staff to integrate physical activity into the wider school curriculum. Monitor and evaluate student progress, providing constructive feedback and celebrating achievements. Maintain high standards of safety and ensure all equipment and facilities are used appropriately. Job Requirements: Experience coaching or teaching sport to children or young people, ideally within a school or youth setting. A recognised coaching qualification (e.g., Level 2 Certificate in Coaching, PE or Sports Science degree, or equivalent). Strong practical knowledge of multiple sports and the ability to deliver a varied curriculum. Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and build positive relationships with students. A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. Flexibility, adaptability, and enthusiasm to engage students from diverse backgrounds. Have an updated CV (covering the last ten years barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one). Why Join GSL Education?
