    • Job description The Public Protection Casework Section (PPCS) is placed within the Public Protection Group of the Wales and Public Protection Directorate. The post of Senior Team Leader: Recall, within PPCS is based in HQ and is located in 1 Ruskin Square, Croydon. It is not operational, although the business objectives of PPCS are focused on delivering frontline public protection casework. PPCS is responsible for the management of the parole process and the recall of offenders to custody. The Recall Team within Post-Release Casework is responsible for recalling determinate and indeterminate sentenced offenders to custody when they breach the conditions of their licence and their risk can no longer be effectively managed in the community. The team recalled approximately 40,000 offenders back to custody in 2024. The Recall Team is also responsible for managing the recall process once an offender returns to prison custody and ensuring offenders subject to a standard recall receive a timely review of their recall, this involves regular liaison with prison, probation and the Parole Board, applying for Parole Board release decisions to be set aside where there has been an error in law and considering whether it is in the public interest to disapply the effect of an IPP recall. This is a fast paced area of work. Senior Team Leaders are expected to have, or to quickly acquire, a sound understanding of the end-to-end recall process as well as an understanding of probation practices relating to recall so that they are able to ensure that high volumes of casework are managed appropriately, that they make informed decisions in respect of approving recall requests and overseeing decision making with regards to recall types. Mandatory Office Attendance - the role requires employees to attend: 1 Ruskin Square, Croydon (the office) for 2 team days per week.
