    • Job summary We are looking to expand our medical workforce with new substantive medical teams taking over two dedicated 14-16 bedded units. The ideal candidate for these roles would be holders of a dual CCT in General Internal Medicine, and another medical specialty. The successful candidate will be supported as part of their respective specialty team and undertake clinics and activity within their specialty as well as looking after GIM patients. We are seeking a dedicated band 7 Acute Pain Team Leader to join our Acute Pain Team at Aneurin Bevan University Health Board (ABUHB). Commitment to staff wellbeing and work life balance If you're ready to advance your career and make a meaningful difference in the lives of patients with acute pain, we want to hear from you Main duties of the job The successful candidate will be the line manager/specialist lead, accountable for their own professional actions and be responsible for leading a team to assess, develop, implement and provide pain relief to all patients, as required, daily. To demonstrate advocacy and clinical decision-making skills with a high degree of autonomy, in all aspects of patient care. They will be responsible for a team of Clinical Nurse Specialists (CNS) to enable them to provide high quality, skilled care to patients undergoing elective and emergency surgery, acute admissions due to pain or blunt chest trauma. They will act, always, in such a way to be a suitable professional role model. They will ensure that all professional practice within the acute pain team, is undertaken with the guidance of the NMC Code of Conduct. Ensure team compliance to mandatory and statutory training as per ABUHB policy and guidelines. Take responsibility for health roster, sickness management and yearly PADR’s. Share responsibility for health and safety including Datix, the production of risk assessments regarding immediate care environments. To investigate patient complaints in line with the boards policy, taking the appropriate action as required. To work with the Acute Pain Lead (Consultant Anaesthetist) to develop policies that influence service delivery and will lead and be responsible for the implementation of any legislative changes. Experience Essential criteria Significant experience working at a band 6 or above within a pain settling Experience of formal/informal teaching Experience of working as part of the multidisciplinary Desirable criteria Evidence of leading new initiatives Participation in clinical supervision, management of a team Qualifications & Knowledge Essential criteria Registered Nurse holding or working towards a postgraduate In depth skill and knowledge of the Acute Pain Service Evidence of professional development Practise supervisor/practice assessor qualification (all Wales) Desirable criteria Recognised sub speciality training Management module Skills & Attributes Essential criteria IT skills, to include rota setting Excellent communication skills Working knowledge of clinical governance Desirable criteria Awareness of restorative clinical supervision Participation in health roster, sickness, PADR Other Essential criteria Able to travel Flexible worker to meet the needs of the service Desirable criteria Welsh Language Skills are desirable levels 1 to 5 in understanding, speaking, reading, and writing in Welsh.
