We are seeking a Band 6 Paediatric nurse with significant experience at Band 5 within the field of Paediatric Oncology/Haematology. As the regional centre for Paediatric Oncology and Haematology for the North West, the unit consists of a 32 bedded Inpatient ward, dedicated OPD and day case facility and a 15 bedded Bone Marrow Transplant/ Gene Therapy and Stem cell unit. Ward 86 cares for children with life threatening illnesses from diagnosis, treatment and supportive care and work with our non-malignant haematology colleagues to provide treatment and support for children with conditions such as Thalassemia and Sickle Cell disease. This is a 24 hour/ day 7 day per week service. Main duties of the job The successful candidate will support a team of registered and non-registered nurses and will work alongside the Ward Manager and Practice Educator with a particular focus on: - Leadership and professional role modelling through complex communication, challenging practice as required and celebrating achievement as is it occurs. - Supporting the Ward Manager to ensure quality, safety and patient experience. You'll act as an experienced preceptor and be competent in the administration of IV chemotherapy.
