The Dover District Council area is the part of South East England that is nearest to mainland Europe. The area covers approximately 121 square miles and includes three main towns, Dover, Deal and Sandwich as well as dozens of picturesque villages and hamlets which make East Kent such an attractive and popular place to live and work. The Dover District is steeped in history, with the iconic White Cliffs of Dover, several castles including the Lord Warden of Cinque Ports residence, Walmer Castle. As well as the coastline, the District has wonderful countryside, lush valleys and beautiful parks and gardens. The Role & Responsibilities: Working as part of the Council’s in-house Parks & Open Spaces Team, the role involves the following aspects of maintenance: - Grass Cutting, Strimming, Weeding, Pruning, Planting, Litter Picking and Hedge Cutting. Who We Are Looking For? Due to the demands of the role, the successful candidate should have: - Proven experience in grounds maintenance. - Competence in using the appropriate power tools, where required. - Be physically fit. - Certificates in spraying (PA1 PA6), Horticulture and Ride on Mowers (would be an advantage but not essential).
