The Fleet Resource and Support teamwork within the operational support function for the West Sussex Fire and Rescue Service. Together with the Workshop, Equipment and Mobilising teams we provide full operational support for all vehicle, equipment and communication requirements for the service. The Opportunity Salary: £26,409 to £27,711 per annum Working Pattern: Full time, 37 hours per week Location: Power Place, Chichester Interview date: 19 and 21 August 2025 As the Fleet Services Assistant, you will be part of a team responsible for over 500 vehicles within West Sussex County Council and the West Sussex Fire and Rescue Service. You will, amongst other responsibilities, help collate, record, maintain and report on data and equipment related to the vehicle and equipment fleet within West Sussex. You will work flexibly as part of a team to ensure all County and Fire Rescue vehicles and equipment are scheduled for maintenance in a timely manner and achieves full compliance of legal documentation through effective planning and processes. The role will also include responsibilities such as ensuring our suppliers are paid in a timely fashion as well as executing the smooth transition from old stock into new. The role may also include a requirement to work at County Hall, Chichester, to support in the efficient operation of the Fleet Management Service Hire Desk. What are we looking for? This role requires concentrated mental attention over lengthy periods and prolonged concentrated sensory attention in order to maintain the Fleet Management IT system and update maintenance schedules. To succeed, the post holder will work within recognised procedures, responding independently to unexpected problems. Access to Team and Team Leader for advice on unusual problems. A successful team member will be able to use their initiative while dealing with internal and external demands, for example, dealing with insurance claims or collating fleet management data required from within the organisation. The role will include some on-going physical effort, for example, checking fleet vehicles for damage or safety condition.
