There is a dedicated head & neck ward for adults, shared with ENT, and an in-patient OMF theatre running everyday of the week. In addition there is a day surgery unit as well as a separate paediatric facility including out-patient, ward and theatre suit. There is a 5 chair orthodontic ‘polyclinic’. The maxillofacial laboratory is also located in the department and has its own clinical room. The unit undertakes a comprehensive range of Oral & Maxillofacial surgery such as: ·Dentoalveolar Surgery ·Head & Neck Oncology and Reconstructive surgery. ·Benign and malignant salivary gland disease, including sialendoscopy. ·Hard & soft tissue facial trauma. ·TMJ disorders with joint replacement surgery. ·Facial deformity. ·Orthognathic surgery The post holder will also be assigned to assist in with theatre with the major Head and Neck cases. The post holder will be assigned to clinics to see patients and develop management plans. When on call the post holder see and treat patients from ED, as well as managing and treating ward in-patients. Referrals may be also made from other wards and Departments, Burton ED, and from both General Medical and Dental Practitioners.
