Job summary 1. To provide a comprehensive, specialist clinical psychology service to those under the care of CNWL and specifically to men on the Mental Health Day Unit. 2. To provide specialist psychological assessment and therapy as well as offering advice and consultation on psychological care to other members of the clinical team. 3. To provide a key role in developing the Mental Health Day Unit and to provide clinical psychology to men on this unit. 4. To support the mental health team with complex cases and to support the Mental Health & Psychology Lead in service improvement. 5.To work autonomously within professional guidelines and the overall framework of the service's policies and procedures. 6. To provide specialist psychological assessments to men in the Prison and on the Mental Health Day Unit based upon the appropriate use, interpretation and integration of complex data from a variety of sources including psychological and neuropsychological tests, self-report measures, rating scales, direct and indirect structured observations and semi-structured interviews with patients and others involved in the patients' care. To develop individual psychological formulations and lead on team formulations. To develop and utilise a range of psychological interventions to support the team and prison in their understanding and management of the prisoners, especially within the CAU. To formulate and implement plans for the psychological treatment and/or management of a service user's mental health and personality problems, taking into account an appropriate conceptual framework of the patient's problems, theoretical and therapeutic models and employing methods based upon evidence of efficacy.
