About the Role We are currently recruiting for Night Support Officer's (NSO's) to work a shift pattern of 4 nights on 4 nights off at the Beacon Children's Home in Grantham. The children and young people in our care are aged between 8 - 17 years old inclusively and as an NSO you will encourage them to sleep, rest or remain peaceful and relaxed. To do this you will engage and communicate effectively with them, supporting their needs during the night should they require it, ensure they are safeguarded, and that their welfare needs are met. In addition to this, you will undertake general housekeeping duties throughout the home. The NSO's are a crucial part of the 24-hour care offered within the home from home, you'll work within a small team and be fully supported by a multi skilled team of carers. Our NSO's also receive • an enhancement of .33 for all hours worked between 10pm and 6am. • Work-Life Balance: Enjoy a consistent night shift schedule that allows for daytime flexibility. About You Previous experience within a care profession is not essential for this role, as long as you have a good understanding of caring for children. You will need to have basic IT skills, be able to adapt to different situations and have the motivation to provide the very best care for our children at all times. You will be joining a successful and experienced team and we will provide you with the training and support required to develop into this role. Job Description Core tasks and functions Ensure all personnel under supervision have completed the appropriate site training and possess a valid SIA license or LDN, meeting industry requirements. Accurately roster and plan for all direct reporting officers, ensuring adequate cover for holidays, sickness, and absences. Engage with all Security Officers at least once a month to monitor performance, maintain positive employee relations, and ensure coaching, counselling, and any necessary investigations are conducted according to company policies and procedures. Monitor and manage the appearance and behaviour of all security personnel, taking appropriate action in line with company policies and procedures. Actively encourage staff recognition and nominations for awards. Keep assignment instructions and site documentation up to date. Report all incidents in compliance with customer and company policies and procedures. Assist the Security Management Team in developing and sharing best practices and utilizing systems and tools to enhance service effectiveness. Plan, develop, and implement staff training, covering both routine duties and emergency procedures. Monitor and report faults with security-related equipment promptly. Be fully conversant with operational functions, including Access Control, CCTV, Detection, and Alarm Systems, ensuring effective monitoring and reporting. Participate in company training to continuously improve performance standards. Serve as the first point of contact during their shift for security-related queries, resolving complex issues using experience and knowledge, and referring any security practice complaints to the Security Management Team. Assist the Site Manager with any reasonable or practical requests.
