Staff are supported to achieve the National Care Certificate over a period of 3 months and success is celebrated through an award ceremony. If you already hold the Care Certificate and have experience working in an acute Trust (evidenced), successful candidates could attend a shortened programme, within the existing induction. Being a Healthcare Assistant You'll provide a variety of care and support for hospital patients as part of a multi-disciplinary team. Your Day-to-day Responsibilities Will Include Clinical tasks, like collecting samples, swabs and recording patients fluid intake/output. Ensuring patients safety and comfort, supporting them with daily activities, including helping them to eat, drink and maintain personal hygiene, and using equipment to move and assist in your care of them. Observing temperature, pulse and blood pressure, maintaining patient records and reporting any abnormalities to senior colleagues. Walsall Manor houses the full range of district general hospital services under one roof. The £170 million development was completed in 2010, and ongoing upgrades ensure the Trust now has state-of-the-art facilities, including a Critical Care Unit, Neonatal Unit, Obstetric Theatre, and Integrated Assessment Unit. A new Urgent and Emergency Care Centre, opened in March 2023, has significantly improved emergency care facilities and capacity, providing almost 5,000 square metres of additional clinical space. Main Responsibilities Supporting patient flow and capacity and the safe discharge process 1. Assist in undertaking activities of living in accordance with the care plan prescribed by qualified staff. These duties will include the delivery of hygiene care, nutrition and hydration, continence care, pressure area care, mobility and rehabilitation and offer psychological support. 2. Assist in the taking and recording of patient’s observations 3. Report changes to patient’s health status to trained nurse for action 4. Support registered nursing staff with clinical treatments and investigations as appropriate, to the level of knowledge and skill. This may include the escort of patients to other departments within the hospital and on occasion to other departments and specialist units off site.
