Job Vacancy Midlothian Building Standards section is looking for an experienced and motivated individual to fill the role of Senior Building Standards Surveyor within a diverse and professional department. Midlothian is one of the fastest growing authorities in Scotland, and the Building Standards Team has a key role in the development of the built environment. You would be responsible for processing complex building warrants, supporting line managers in their activities and inspecting dangerous/defective buildings. Midlothian building standards has recently employed four new team members and you would require to play a key role in the development of both new staff and existing staff. You will also play an integral role in the delivery of improvement projects for the service and maintain high levels of performance and customer satisfaction. KNOWLEDGE Chartered membership of the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) or Chartered membership of the Association of Building Engineers (CABE) and direct experience in Building Standards. The post holder should have excellent interpersonal skills and demonstrable organisational, communication and negotiation skills are essential. The post holder requires an in depth understanding of building technology relevant to the associated legislation and guidance. Experience in public safety matters relative to dangerous and defective buildings is also essential. Experience in performance management. A relevant degree qualification is also desirable.
