The role Working across our University estates and reporting to the Mechanical Team Supervisor, you will be part of the Mechanical Services Technicians team, who are responsible for reactive, planned and preventative maintenance in our residential and academic buildings, delivering key objectives to meet directorate and university-wide requirements. This is a full-time vacancy which is 37 hours (typically Monday to Thursday 8am to 4.30pm, and 8am to 4pm on Fridays) with an on-call rota allowance. A basic DBS check will be required. What will I be doing? Undertake maintenance works in compliance with current HVAC, water regulation and gas safety regulations Undertake systems fault finding and provide clear written remedial reports to the Mechanical Team Supervisor and customer updates Comply with all relevant health and safety legislation and procedures, including task-specific risk assessments and method statements, in the carrying out of maintenance and adaptation work, reporting any potentially unsafe working methods, installations or equipment to supervision/management as appropriate Ensure all necessary paperwork required, both manually or electronically, are completed accurately and in a timely manner in line with SLA’s. This includes work requests, stores requisitions, allocation of hours and any other requirements for legislation and/or safety purposes. What skills do I need? A recognised apprenticeship in mechanical/ HVAC services, City and Guilds or NVQ Level 3, ACS for CCN1, COCN1 or equivalent qualifications Fully Gas Safe qualified and Conversant with the Gas Regulations Act. Gas Safe member, qualified and competent in domestic and commercial gas appliances Proven experience in planned and preventative maintenance programmes Proficient prioritisation and time management skills Adept at working on their own initiative and effectively as part of a team Strong written, verbal, and IT skills Clean driving licence. Ideally the post holder will have UK experience at the level of a ST4 or above. This post is part of a service improvement to uplift the workforce from a 1:8 to a 1:10. There is excellent accommodation nearby with ample leisure facilities and outstanding schools within the area. We have a 10 bedded labour suite; 23 bedded post-natal ward and Gynaecology patients are managed on our surgical wards. We run a variety of clinics, day case lists, inpatient lists, including early pregnancy unit. The successful applicant will be required to work a 1:8 full shift rota initially, which will progress to a 1:10 as soon as recruitment is complete.
